Qwantani sits where the foothills of the Northern Drakensberg meet the rugged shoreline of the mighty Sterkfontein Dam. It is an area of magnificent beauty, with mountain slopes covered in a rich carpet of grass, deep ravines and tranquil blue water endlessly into the distance. It is a magical place, where the stresses and strains of urban living can, quite simply, be washed away.

The chalet accommodation is very comfortable and offers breathtaking views of the Berg's rugged, sheer cliffs silhouetted against the blue sky and/or the blue waters of Sterkfontein Dam. If you tire of either of the resort's pools, the dam also offers water sports, such as water skiing and sailing, as well as sundowners on a relaxing barge cruise.

There's no point visiting South Africa if all you want to do is sit in your room. And there's no better way to experience what's out there than to slip on your boots and take one of the resort's many scenic bush trails. Within just a few steps, you'll encounter a phenomenal variety of bird life - anything from majestic black eagles soaring above the trees, to deceptively savage secretary birds, and what seems like thousands of smaller birds darting between the branches and rocky outcrops. And later, when you're back at the resort, another local bird will provide you with sustenance. Not a chicken, but the Martial Eagle Restaurant with its mouth-watering menu of home-style cooking.
